No. This is an in-house certification awarded by Sports Schooling and is not an internationally recognised qualification.
The course is delivered by the Head Coach of Swim Lab together with a team of qualified and experienced coaches, following the Sports Schooling swim instruction methodology and pedagogy.
Our programme is designed to provide aspiring swim instructors with a strong foundation in:
- Basic swim instruction techniques
- Water safety knowledge
- Class management fundamentals
- Practical coaching skills
- Confidence to begin coaching under guidance
The objective is to equip participants with a thorough understanding of what it takes to start their journey as a swim coach. After gaining practical coaching experience and applying what they have learnt, participants may choose to pursue internationally recognised coaching certifications when they are ready to take the next step in their coaching career.
No. There is no obligation to coach with Sports Schooling after completing the course.
Our primary goal is to equip you with the confidence, fundamental coaching skills, and water safety knowledge needed to begin your journey as a swim instructor. Whether you choose to coach with Sports Schooling or pursue opportunities elsewhere is entirely your decision.
If you decide to join Sports Schooling as a contract coach, you are also free to coach for other swim schools or organisations. We do not require exclusivity.
We believe in developing capable and confident coaches by providing a strong practical foundation. Our hope is that the quality of our coaching environment, mentorship, and opportunities will encourage you to continue growing with us, but we want every participant to have the flexibility to pursue the pathway that best suits their goals.
The duration is ultimately up to you. There is no contractual obligation to remain with Sports Schooling for a fixed period after completing the course.
That said, we hope that coaches who join us will be committed to building continuity within our coaching community. Learning to swim is a long-term journey, and children benefit greatly from having a consistent coach who understands their progress, builds trust, and develops meaningful relationships over time.
If you choose to coach with Sports Schooling, we typically ask for a commitment of at least two full terms to a year. This allows our swimmers to experience continuity in their learning while giving you sufficient time to develop your coaching skills in a supportive environment.
Before embarking on the course or accepting coaching assignments, we encourage you to consider whether you are able to make this commitment. It ensures the best experience for both our swimmers and our coaching team.
